Thinkpad 600, 98se, ASUS wl-107g, Draytek Vigor 2800G no internet

I would be very greatful if someone can help me.
I can connect to the router with wep and it says it is connected fine but IE will not see the internet.
Ipconfig shows IP Address 169.254.34.89, Subnet mask 255.255.0.0, Default Gateway nothing.
The Router is set to default setting and runs fine through my main computer.
This is a virgin install of 98 Second Edition and would like to find a way to get all the updates for it and of course browse the Web.

Try manually entering the settings rather than relying on dhcp
