    wireless problem help

PC connects to wireless G linksys router via usb 2 wireless adapter

    see here for router:
    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...=1545339789B12

    and here for adapter:
    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...=3225039789B47

router is in an upstairs bedroom where my pc is wired to it. Parent's pc connects using the adapter.

Now the problem, it normally connects ok but occasionally it will not connect as it either spends ages searching for the router or once connected to the router, ages connecting to the internet.

I used to use the linksys PCI wireless adapter in the pc but it did the same thing(only the usb adapter has been a bit more reliable).

Any tips on how I can narrow down what the problem is or how to sort it(the settings are all default on the router by the way but have chosen G only as the wireless mode. I also have a squeezebox which connects wirelessly to my router and this rarely has a problem.

    any suggestions?
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

    Re: wireless problem help

Well, it could be a lot of things but provided your bandwidth is not being 'hi-jacked' (have you got WEP or WPA set) , then you could be suffering from some electrical interferance , faulty tv or micro-wave etc which is killing the radio signal sometimes. When I connect to the hub via usb adapter I get a signal strength indication , you may get something similar . Isolating these problems is just trial and error i'm afraid.
