    Router problem

Hi all, i just bought a new router because for some reason i couldnt connect to the internet anymore through a wireless connection on my other computer.

First i bought a new pci card but the thing wont connect, it will just get stuck on aquiring network address, and then it just disconnects. Seeing this i thought it then must be the router, so i went a bought a belkin modem router. Now the other computer can connect to it, but it wont even let me onto the internet on the main computer. On the bottom right hand side of the screen it says connected, transfering at 100mbps, but in the options it says its not connected. When i plug in the old router the internet will work fine with no faults, i just cant connect to it through wireless.

Any help would be great because im completly stuck.

mm.. all the adapters iv come across will say there connected even if the wrong password is entered, however there will obviously no data transferred. might be what's happening here.

your wrong though it becomes a whole lot less useful when a router is used - bit of a throwback to the "one computer has the modem in it" days. unless theres a physical reason you cant plug the two computers into it - wireless being the best example i can think of... used to use ICS via a laptop to let my xbox connect to a wireless router, worked really well.

seems like a bit of a fandango if you have a router ... i would just aim to fix the router than trying out comical suggestions like this.

what you have described would surely have meant that you would have had to leave your laptop on if you're using the xbox ...
