idiot needs help: Network through mains.

i'm about to get a BT V box, and apparently it comes with 2 powerline adaptors. Now I'm quite happy to sort this out, however, I'd like to also use another adaptor for my PC and cable that up, as my original phone socket, and mains sockets are someway away from it, and I'd like max speed and so on.
I've searched here about the mains power networking and there seems to be talk of a router switch or some such thing, to enable me to do this, soooooo

Can someone explain simply how I would set up an extra power adaptor from my router to my PC, with the first one going to my VBOX ? I can totally understand how to set up a one-one connection, but I'd like the option to have mulitple (or at least, a 2nd) connection.

    Thanking you all.

I have not used these devices, but as far as I can tell, you just plug the third device in and connect the PC to it. The device isn't addressable, so devices connected to the three (or more) devices just look as if they are connected to a switch.

I use them. Just plug it in, use the software included to link them together and add a password (if needed) and your away.

If you getting a v box then you will have the bt router , the powerline devices bt supply let your v box connect via mains to the router (one at each end) at high speed.

If you want other devices to access the router and or internet then you just need to buy one more powerline device for each pc etc you want to add as you mains is made 'live' for networking by the BT supplied pair of adapters.

Make sure you get compatible adapters the current BT ones are made by comtrend and are powerline adapters with a 200mbps speed they are NOT HOMEPLUG devices but are UPA compatible. Theres a ruck of them on ebay at the moment!

thanks to Errata and Jay for your help.
I've set up two of them, but tell me this anyone, am I losing a lot of signal strength on my phone line extension which is about 8m long from the main socket in the house? Is it better to move the bt router next to it and use the power mains, or is the loss not that great?

If it is good quality cable, then a few metres won't matter. In a perfect world you would use Cat5 for the extension - however I connect the router via extension cabling that goes through untwisted pair extension cabling (more than 8 metres long) without problems (but I am close to the exchange and not on a rate adptive service, it is fixed "MB/s- if I was on ADSL max I might think again about router placement)

I f you can get noise and line stats from the router, try it in both locations and see if it makes a difference - experimental evidence is worth far more than speculation and supposition!
