    Getting broadband

I'm fianlly able to get broadband. I was too far away from the exchange before but Talk Talk have sorted it out for us and we will be getting broadband on March 4th.

Is anybody else still on dial-up?

no one that I know of

Should try getting Be* if you're not too far from the exchange and you have LLU in your area.

    Re: Getting broadband

I remember having dial up (2002) i waited 29 hours for Counter Strike to patch, and then when it did the result was the most laggy game ever (due to Dial Up). Ended up uninstalling everything, got broadband a month later and was patched in 2 hours and gained lovely non lag play.

I just got Virgin Media installed (20MB) since my exchange only supports 3MB over the phone line. Im now getting a lovely 19.95 MB on speedtest.net

How short are memories! It is only about 4 1/2 years ago that BT abnnounced that it was rolling out broadband to the remainder of its 5,600 exchanges - before that broadband was only available in the mauin city areas, otherwise it was dial up - either analoguee or ISDN (Home highway) - and when BB was available, it was at 512Kb/s !

Hilarious. And I certainly haven't heard it all before.

Exactly. You'd think I was asking them to remember the war or something. Someboyd who had had broadband for less than a year was amazed when I told them I was still on dial-up.

    Re: Getting broadband

I remember when i was one of the first people to get broadband in my school class (was 9 at the time) people would ask me to download large files and burn to a disk cause 20MB files would take them 8 hours lol

The good old days, the idea of plugging in a phone cable and listening to the sound of computer gremlins everytime i wished to connect to the internet bewilders me
