    VirginMedia 20 Mbps £20 a month... Hmmm

I saw in a paper the other day an advert saying up to 20 Mbps half price for 3 months (£10)
when you also take out a phone line. Now seeing as its supposed to be £37 or whatever, thats one
hell of a kick in the teeth for current customers.

But then again some leverage to get you a reduction? if anyone tries it on in the next few weeks
a post on how you get on would be handy.

Judging by this hexus thread Virgin Media is not an ideal ISP to go to.

Sky gives me 20meg (16 after distance-from-exchange works its magic), this with TV and phone is £35 a month - so maybe virgin will offer a favourable bundle deal

Its only a good deal if you are happy with them spying on you and pimping that information out to line their pockets.

SKY doesnt do a 20mb package........

16mb is their top package and unless you are living under 50metres from the exchange, there is no way you would get that either.

Don't forget the £11 or so you have to pay to BT.

But they throttle you enough to make it look like a 2mb connection is superfast compared to your VM connection.

So while its not being "shaped" they do worse.

It's annoying isn't it! They charge you over the odds for a great connection, then when you actually use is, they punish you for it.

Im on Be, so doesnt affect me. But it does very significantly reduce the chance of me ever becoming a Virgin customer.

mmm, if you are on 20Mb & you download enough during the peak hours to have the management kick in you drop down to 5Mb - how does that make 2Mb look superfast?

To be very clear, I was exaggerating to get a point across. End result as far as I am concerned, I would not get the connection speed paid for.

But I bow down to your superior knowledge and accuracy of statements as you are indeed technically correct.
