HELP - Wired connection issue on Virgin Media Wireless Cable Broadband

I have just installed the Netgear wirelesss router I got free from Virgin. My new notebook works fine after loading the SW and following the instructions. BUT I want to also still use my DT and this is now not connecting. I used to have it connected via Ethernet cable to the modem, so now I have changed that connection to be from Port 1 on the Wireless router to the DT. The green light for “1” on the router is lit, and the little lights by the Ethernet connection on the PC are flashing – but I get no internet connection. What do I need to do to make it work ?

I tried loading the wireless install disk to the DT and choosing “Wired” instead of wireless but all it appears to tell me is to plug in a USB Wireless Network thingy … and researching these they appear to be rubbish !!!

Is your desktop machine setup with a static ip or DHCP? My money is on the former, set it to DHCP and it'll be fine.
