    IP webcam

I managed to scavange an old IP webcam from a skip today, its an Axis 200+. After a bit of fiddling its working I just shove the cameras Ip address in to my web browser and get nice live images. The next thing to do would be to arrange things so that the feed could be viewed from the internet, or ideally my mobile phone (Kaiser WM6.1). So any ideas how I go about doing this? Bit of an odd one as the cameras ancient, but I am tempted to set it up to watch a bird box.

    cheers

If you view it via the browser its running its own internal web server. Simply tell your router to forward all incoming http traffic to its IP number (assuming its running on port 80, you could just forward that)

    Flibb,

I dug out an old Axis 200+ that I have and I'm trying to get port forwarding working.
I have port forwarding working for another device, so it seemed like it should be a no brainer.

But for some reason it isn't just working.
Did you set anything special in the camera?

Any help you can offer would be awesome.

    Re: IP webcam

You aren't trying to forward port 80 to both devices are you?

They will need to be on different ports to work. Unless your router can map one external port to a different internal one (i've tried this before, never worked on any router I used).

Nope.. I am not trying to use port 80.

I have since had some success. But it has been a bit frustrating.
Like I said, I had one device working with port forwarding.
In my DSL modem, I have to forward ports to my router, and then in my router I have to forward ports to the pc/device.

I already had port 8080 set up, and was adding 8081.
In my modem I had set up 8080, and added 8081 to the list of ports to forward.
But the 8081 device (Axis camera) just did not work.
But when I changed the modem set up to be a range (8080-8081) instead of two separate entries, it just started working.

But as always, I am still have doubts that that was the real solution... because it doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Re: IP webcam

Thinking back one proble I had was that its config had been altered, think I reset it to factory settings, then used some software from the makers site to change the port it uses.
