    Re: talk talk?

    Rather you than me fella.

    TalkTalk = CPW = AOL.

    I had AOL just at the time CPW bought them. The service got THAT BAD, i refused to pay and cancelled my subsriptions.

    They actually admitted to me on the phone the service was poor and didnt charge me to leave.

    Re: talk talk?

    Been with Talk-Talk for nearly a month now, have been continually checking speeds with DSL ZoneUK - broadband for everyone.
    Also other speed checkers. Nearly always over 3mb, usually 4mb thou. But obviously it depends on location etc.
    We went with them more for the phone package rather than BB. [Was with BT for line and Talk-Talk for calls]
    I have kept NTL/Virgin media running as well ! only 2mb [M package], just in case it all went pear shape. But to tell you the truth it seems okay, and will probable get round to ditching the cable BB.
    Had a few teething troubles at first. Phone line went dead a few times just had to keep calling them - a real pain, but seems stable now.
    Was advised by other forums not to use their install disk, searched around and found info on how to set up without it. Was advised the same on other forums with the NTL/Virgin BB Medic disk as well.

    Cheap and cheerful and it seems to do the job. I don't do gaming so can't comment on that side of things. But this a helpful place and somebody maybe able to comment on that.
    As for the 40GB business, not sure if they just throttle the line [something I think most ISP do] - maybe someone can offer some info on that.
    Anyhow hope it helps. cheers.

    Re: talk talk?

    I had them for 3 months back in my ADSL days they are terrible if you go over 40gb they stick you on what they call a heavy users pipe until your next bill and put it this way the speeds while on that are slower than 56k and you cannot access secure pages meaning no ebay or anything like that I woudl advise against them for anybody. Seems AOL are the only company without limits really as most ISPs have a heavy users pipe nowadays. Cable is the future as it truly has no limits unlike ADSL.
