    internet goes out periodically

every day or so, my internet will go out on my server. I RDP into it from a other pc on the lan and all i do is take a browser to 192.168.0.30 (which is the router's ip), and then it works again.

i have switched routers 3 different routers, and the server used to be doing DHCP and DNS , but i thought that might be the problem so i put told my router(s) to do it instead.

well it still happens all the time wtf. do you think its a problem with my server or router? (os is win 2003)

    Thanks

Whast do the router logs say? Is it a problem with your ISP? How do yo connect to your ISP? If it is ADSL, is that the problem?

    Re: internet goes out periodically

Im not sure if it is the ISP. It is verison fios fiber optic internet. i have never rebooted the "modem" because it's not exactly a "modem" and there is no buttons to reboot it.

the log is filled with tons of these entries:
    DHCP lease info: ip[72.76.34.138] mask[255.255.255.0] gw[72.76.34.1] host_name[UNAVAILABLED] domain_name[NOT GIVEN] server_name[NOT GIVEN] dns_server1[71.250.0.12] dns_server2[68.238.96.12] ttl[0] mtu[0] renew_time[2008/5/4 21:27:01] expire_time[2008/5/4 21:42:01]
Other than that, the only other entries are periodically it says the following corresponding to when I logged into the router:
    Code:
    192.168.0.50 access
...and a few times it says the following, corresponding to when I rebooted the router:
    Restart Router !
    --- System is up! ---
    Firmware: v1.3.9
The following is my current data, although my WAN IP changes from time to time when I reboot the router.

    Re: internet goes out periodically

I wonder if it is teh DHCP lease expiring? Or if it is set up to time out if the link is idle? Obviously not a static IP address, so perhaps it is a Veizon method of ensuring the IP address changes? Have you tried calling their tech support?
