    Finally Done it......

Well thats it finally done - iv managed to get my MAC key and Orange Broadband can go to hell

Have signed up with Bethere and am hoping the connection process doesnt take to long....

Was problematic getting the mac code as Orange would only issue it to my orange email address - and for the last week or so my orange mail server has been down - I couldnt even get into the account from their web interface
Came through today tho, so its hopefully a done deal.

Have signed up for the 24mb package at £18 a month, and hopefully will get £40 quidco off it too. Went for a dynamic ip address, as I have no real use for a static. Will opt for fastpath once connected too...

Does anyone have any idea of what speed I'll get with Be? As an idea, at the moment with orange I get around 5.5mb on my 8mb line - I used to get a reliable 7mb (was getting about 720kbs actual download speed) and then orange 'upgraded' the line and Iv had nothing but slow speeds and outages ever since.....

    Looking forward to Be anyways!

Just a quick question, do you get a free email address with Be? as I noticed they sell an email bolt on for £2 a month.....I thought at least one free email address was pretty standard now...?

    Cheers folks!

Its a feature to sacrifice a bit of line stability in favour of better pings (for gaming).

Shame about the email address not being free, but tbh i barely used the orange one as it hardly ever worked...

    Re: Finally Done it......

Well, heres an update.....was connected to Be today, so no more Orange

The downside? My connection speed on their 24mb service seems to be 6.7mb
Will give it a few days to pick up/sort out etc....if it doesnt then il be ringing up to get swapped to the 8mb service

Not happy atm... My mate who recently joined Be connected at 16mb on his day of connection - and his speed went up. Mine now back were it was with orange when I first joined - and they dont have their own exchange hardware...

    Re: Finally Done it......

You may have bad line. That has nothing to do with exchange hardware or Be itself. Still reliable 6.7Mb is much better than occasional 10Mb with traffic throttling. Mind 8mb plan doesn't have that much perks. I'm on sub 8Mb speed but stay with 24Mb plan because of that.

    Re: Finally Done it......

vrykyl your only going to get good speed if you match alot of factors.

    Pretty Close to exchange.
    Everything working well.
Wireing in house and to your house is good (old Cables are aluminium not copper i believe)
    things like that.

I live in a old victorian house near exchange and only get 6 mb
