wow sucks, from the example they gave it seems if you reach any threshold the limit applies to downstream and upstream. I'm still not regretting I left

    Re: Virgin's New STM Policy

I wish they would stop changing things. Getting a bit annoying now.

Having said that, the limits don't look too bad....but a 5 hour cap? I'm starting to get annoying with VM now.

edit - hang on, does 75% throttled mean that 10meg goes down to 2.5, or that it drops to 7.5? I'm guessing its 2.5.....thats a bloody joke. More so at 5 hours long.
I'm not a big downloader, but if this on a per night basis - needing to a file quickly could cripple my connection. They should work it out over a week or so.

I'm going to look at Be again

You've defended Virgin long enough, I'll help you move to ADSL2+ (Unless you live far from the phone exchange or you don't have a BT phone line or you're tied with Virgin on phone or your tied with Virgin on TV or your tied with Virgin on Mobile phone)

The problem I have is that I could only get 2mbit on ADSL anyway

    Re: Virgin's New STM Policy

WTF - they are doing it in the daytime to?!?!

So basically, its only "unlimited" between 21:00 and 10:00. That, quite frankly is BS. They are having a phone call tomorrow, its not as if I don't have current issues with them anyway (overbilling me and not returning).

I am not paying them for that kinda service.

The only problem with Be is thats its still ADSL...and I hate ADSL with a passion (distance and all that).

Ah crap. Forgot about the mobile - that will rise to £20 a month now.

Still have a BT line though, thank god.

I can try and calculate the speeds you'll get based on the distance

    Re: Virgin's New STM Policy

I've had ADSL before, and it was nothing but hassle when I had an issue.

The ISP blames BT (Wholesale). BT blames the ISP.
Great when it works. Hell when it doesn't.

Well yeah if you've got a bad BT line it'll be a problem. Aww man looks like you're stuck.

    Re: Virgin's New STM Policy

Don't get me wrong, when it worked it was great - and a lot of the issues were down to UKOnline being useless, but I'm about 3KM from the exchange so its not going to be amazing speeds.

Anyway, going a bit OT now. I'm going to ring Virgin tomorrow and get this cancelled and / or discounted.
