do you want to share a DSL or a cable line ? That USR one is for sharing 1 ethernet cable between the 4. ( ok if you have an ethernet modem )
if you want to just share a dsl line , the Origo ones are suprisingly good ( seeing as they cost peanuts )

yup, the one moby-dick mentions is a good one :)
i just need it to split my Blueyonder line thingy between a couple of machines. not sure bout wot connection it is, i aint too good with network stuff, thus why i asked :D
blueyonder = cable.
how does it connect at the moment ?
do you have wal -> box -> PC ?
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=37451 you want this matey
I have by and have been using this for months now with no problems... touch wood
cheap :D
The main thing you gotta let us know is how the cable modem connects to your PC.
If it connects via USB then you have to connect the router to your PC and to all the others and share the connection from your machine, but your machine has to be on for the others to be able to connect to the net.
If it's by ethernet then you can attach your modem to the router and it will share it with all the PC's without yours having to be on.
When we had Blueyonder the modem supplied could be attached by either USB or ethernet, so check which modem you got. I think our was a Motorola one.
Also if your connecting with usb matey then switch to ethernet- its better and it makes things a lot easier when installing the router.
True, but his budget is only £50 and an ADSL router is gonna cost more then that isn't it? Remember all the wires too and any network cards that may be needed.
It'll be good if it's ethernet though. :)
:edit: Perfect option if you only have a USB modem:

£50 exactly inc VAT. :)
it comes in through a wall box, into wot i fink is a Motorola modem (says Surfboard on the front) and it aint a USB connection.
That's the modem I had. It has both USB and ethernet. But since you are using the ethernet option already, you're in luck! :)
The cheaper router Steve mentions will be fine. Have all the other systems got NIC's(Network Interface Card's)? Remember you'll need the cables too. Cat5's, but not sure which version. I think I'm using Cat5e, but I'm at work at the moment so can't check.
My advice on routers is dont go for Netgear, they suck. All mine have had horrendous stability problems and refuse to take 90% of firmwares.
edit: Any other brand should be cool :)
