    O2 Broadband issues

Is anyone having any issues with O2 broadband just now? I've suddenly started getting periods of extended time outs since last night. Occasionally it works fine (like now) but more often than not it's kaput...

    Re: O2 Broadband issues

I'm on O2 and had problems last night. i thought it was the DNS servers as the status showed as connected.

I normally use the Unofficial BE/o2 forum DNS servers so I swithced to OpenDNS and everything was fine then

I had this a couple of weeks ago, it was fine when I used it last night (after 11pm).

    Re: O2 Broadband issues

I kept getting a DNS error when connecting to the PSN last night (about 8:30 - 10:30pm last night), although web browsing was fine...

Does anyone know how to change the DNS settings on the O2 wireless box II? Also, does it have a DMZ option? I cant for the life of me find an option for them!

I don't think there is a DMZ option... there is a "superuser" mode on the O2 Wireless box I that I have, and I don't remember seeing it in there either.

That's the speedtouch 585v7 isn't it? If it hasn't changed too much from the v6 then you can try these CLI commands.

    Re: O2 Broadband issues

A wee update - apparently O2/ Be are having serious issues with their DNS servers that are assigned to IP addresses 93.x.x.x. Taking kmac's advice I told my router to use OpenDNS for instead of the servers automatically assigned and voila! all is now well.

What a complete PITA though. You'd think something as basic as DNS would work without any problems...

    Re: O2 Broadband issues

DNS has always been an issue, be thankful it isn't a congestion/network issue. With their prices so cheap and speeds so great it's better the DNS gave way than the network itself.

    Re: O2 Broadband issues

My Be connection has lost a lot of speed after frequent disconnects and resyncing. No sign of it going back up.

I already disconnected the ring wire from my BT socket, and that gave me a small boost ...

Can't be bothered to look into it in more detail as in 2 months I will be moving.

But if the DNS doesn't work then it doesn't matter how fast the line is as you can't connect to any websites!

    Re: O2 Broadband issues

You can use other DNS servers such as Open DNS or the ones provided by the unofficial BE/O2 forum
