    All you 4Mbit -> 10Mbit users better not actually use your connections; there's not enough capacity for me to use my 20Mbit connection as it is!

    Besides, actually using your connection is against the usage policy.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    its pathetic isnt it? i used to like virgin media(well it was ok, telewest/ntl/blueyonder were far better even though they jsut changed the name to virgin ) but now this throttling seems to happen when i download 300mb, stupid when its ment to be 600mb. They havent even got plymouth listed on it so i guess i fall into newton abbot which is still TBC, i talked to their customer support(when i finsihed complaining) and they said they couldnt tell me and just check the site because they dont know. In theory you are allowed to use your full 10mb connection for only 100seconds till your punished which puts you down to 2.5mb but 20mb is even worse(cant remember d/l limit) because you get throttled even harder.

    I cant wait for the upgrade but its depressing knowing that i cant use it fully because ill be punished for the day.

    Re: Virgin media Peeps - Have you turned your modems on and off recently?

    Mine went 4 -> 10 a couple of months ago, without a reset.

    More impressive is my inlaws' BT connection, which was apparently maxed out at 1MB/s, according to BT themselves. One day, it just suddenly improved, and they now get a steady 7MB/s..!

    7mbit. = 740KB/s or so. 7MB/s = 70mbit

    I feel realy sorry for the people who pay for 20MB and have all the restrictions put on them to accomoedate the people getting free 10MB upgrades.

    Its very unfair

    Re: Virgin media Peeps - Have you turned your modems on and off recently?

    i'm still waiting on the upgrade in my area. normally it's been one of the first for upgrades, this time it seems to be one of the last. it's a pain when the STM kicks in and i'm down to 1mb from 4mb. with the 10mb package at least i'll get 2.5mb when it kicks in, which isn't that much slower than my current full speed, but the 2.5x offpeak speeds will mean i'll have to rely less on peak time downloading i suppose
