    New ISP?

    Hi,

We're looking to get away from BT due to a horrid experience, however, i'm hoping to get some ideas on a quality service. Preferably looking for 8MB B'Band, unlimited downloads, but most importantly, anytime phone calls. We're looked at some ISP's such as Virgin and Tiscali but don't know if they're any good!

    Any suggestions?

    P.S. We can't have cable

    Thanks a lot...

    Have you got SKY TV?

If so, SKY BB is fantastic and very quick. Not to mention, for the 'up to' 16mb package (which is unlimited), its only a tenner.
    Best vlaue out there.

    Re: New ISP?

Yes we do have Sky TV, however, we can only get Sky Connect package as the rest aren't available in our area

This is a problem, because we've had PIPEX prior to BT which we're good, it was just customer service that was poor, and BT isn't even worth discussing tbh.

    Another vote for BE/02.

If not try Zen, I've heard good things about them.

if you do go with Virgin stay away from their top packages, they hardly ever deliver what they advertise.

I am eligible for the o2/Be* Broadband, however, the only problem is, it doesn't include phone calls, and seens as though it isn't me paying for it, it isn't my decision.

If you can get BE then I highly recomend it! Honestly its far better than most other packages which bundle calls in as well etc.

If you cant get SKY on LLU then i seriously doubt BE (at a decent speed) would be available either.
The only way to get fast BB is through an LLU enabled exchange (unless its fibre optic), and SKY would have many hundreds more than BE.

so you think 12mb on peak is ok?

I had 20MB VM, they oversubscribed my area with no date to fix the problem, at times I was seeing under 2MB/s.

I just cant see how. If the exchange was LLU enabled then SKY BB would be possible aswell.

I am another happy Be customer. I am right on the outside limits of my exchange and still get 8.5mb dl and 1mb ul speeds on speedtest.

The fact that an exchange is LLU does not me4an that all LLU operators take advantage of it. As an example, Ashfield exchange in Birmingham is an LLU exchange, but the only operators providing LLU services are O2/Be and talkTalk.

Or to be strictly accurate, the fact that one operator has chosen to provide LLU services at an exchange doesn't mean that any others have to follow suit.
