Best Way To Make Laptop Wireless

    Hi All.
I have just taken possession of a decent little laptop.
Unfortunately it is not wireless enabled though

Whats the best/cheapest way to remedy this?

Is it with a card (can remember what they are called) This: http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=11005
    or
Or is it with just a USB dongle? This: http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=15834
Would that be all i needed?

AFAIK the laptop has a hole for the card (Dell Inspiron C640)
I have 2 laptops and a PC all wireless at the moment but i just want to be sure.

    Thanks all

if its got a pcmcia slot then i would use the card otherwise your going to have something poking out and risking it getting snapped off

but they will both give the same kind of performance....

Re: Best Way To Make Laptop Wireless

My laptop was the same, I bought a USB adapter but bent it because I move around my laptop a lot. So I just bought a internal PCI card and the antennas from eBay for around £10 and it seems to work ok. The signal is not as strong as the USB adapter but it is easier to move the laptop round.

PCMCIA is definitely the way to go. USB sticks get bent and broken very easily.

Re: Best Way To Make Laptop Wireless

If you use a USB one, make sure you get one with a lead that takes it away from being directly plugged in the laptop

Make sure you check if you have a PCMCIA port or a Express Card port before buying anything though - they are different

Re: Best Way To Make Laptop Wireless

The laptop in question has a mini pci slot you can put in a something like a intel pro wireless 2200bg . I have a dell one at home and there there very easy fit

    Edit:
Something like this would work http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intel-PRO-Wire...2em118Q2el1247
