    DGL-4300 and ADSL2+

I currently have a Dlink DGL-4300 which is a cable router, my VM modem plugs into this and bada bing bada bang I have my Internet connection. I plan on leaving VM soon and perhaps going over to Be. I know they use ADSL connection, so will I have any problems using my Dlink router?

Will I need to buy a seperate ADSL modem or will I be able to use the modem provided with Be and just run it through my modem much like how I am currently doing with VM's modem?

The reason why I would like to keep the DGL-4300 in the loop is because of the options do to with port filtering and stuff like that.

Isn't Be ADSL2+ So you'd need an ADSL2+ modem. Plus the cable modem won't work. It is the wrong type.

I hear the Netgear DG834N is a good modem router to use for Be.

Yes it is a ADSL2+ connection but that wasn't my question. The question is, how would I/is it possible to use my router that I have at the moment with the Be ADSL2+ connection.

You have a cable modem yes? You need an ADSL modem. They are different kinds of modem.

If it is a cable router I can't see how you could use it with Be. That is why I mentioned the DG834N as it is a modem/router combo which will work.

    Re: DGL-4300 and ADSL2+

    The dgl-4300 isn't a cable router - it's just a router.

You can connect a cable modem to it's WAN port for a cable internet connection and an ADSL modem to it for an ADSL connection.

That said and done, just find and buy a suitable ADSL2+ modem and connect it up to the dgl-4300. The easiest way would probably be to get another d-link one (to best avoid any issues) and set the modem up as a 'dumb' modem with the router handling the isp login and connection details, etc.

You could buy aan ADSL2 modem and feed the output into your router - same setup - different method of delivery.
