    Reinstallled XP, now no Ethernet

i had a 2 viruses and reinstalled everything on my notebook, now just wifi link and ethernet is completely unaccessible, i tried troubleshooting it for more than an hour, new network connection wizard, changed dns/ ip/ addresses to fixed in tcpip properties, same workgroup, tried 2 different crossovers..

LAN connection tray icon is connected but i can only see shared filees over wifi, even with areal switched off, Ethernet is defunct.

Sorry would be grateful for any help.

Can you see the network card asapter in system properties? First thoughts would be a driver problem.

What do you get if you type ipconfig from a command line?
