    Re: connecting pc?

    yes it is

wireless will never be as good with latency as wired even with a strong signal.

games should be ok but expect the ping to be slightly higher than if using wired.

it is possible to hook a PC (or upto 253? I think, in same subnet) upto the RJ45 directly, or using switches with a few PCs and have other PCs using the Wireless, at the same time.

Here I have my PC using RJ45 and another PC using the WiFI with a laptop also using WiFI when its on and it works properly.

you can share files - make sure the workgroup is set to the same on each PC and that if you set the local IP manually, that all PC's on the network have an IP in the same range.

for example if not using dhcp from router or dc use the next IP on from whatever your routers IP is and so on.

if you using 802.11g wireless then your speed transfering files/streaming films from one PC to another will be at maximum (if signal is very good / excellent, 54mbit so about 6.5MB/s maximum, or half that if the signal is below half bars ( I thinkl ) but if your router is 802.11n I think the speed is double or more (in theory with good/excellent signal strength) but I cant remember the details.

    Re: connecting pc?

You need to get a wireless router that has ethernet ports - i'd be amazed if you find wireless router without ethernet ports

    What OS are you using?

As suggested, it's a relatively straightforward procedure, but there are literally hundreds of networking guides/article on the 'net
None of them involve reinstalling the OS btw, so I don't know where you read that?

Here's the official Microsoft one for Windows XP to get you started
