    Which Wireless Adapter

    Which PCI card?

I just want this to install, work with vista 32bit home premium, and that is that. No horrible drivers. No connection drops or signal issues. Something that accepts downloading and online gaming just like the old sitecom network card/xp machine did.

Searching around, why is this so hard to find such a device?

Already tried USBs. Rubbish. Dlink's works but cuts out for no reason every few hours, and the Netgear was completely hopeless!

I am willing to spend as much as needed to get a QUALITY PCI card, that is designed around or works with Vista out of the box. No hopeless Chinese promises of "WORKS WITH WINDOWS VIST RLY DOES", etc - or cuts out after a few hours due to awful support, build or overheating.

It's not like I'm asking for magic tricks!

    Thank you!

I use a zyxel wireless card at home. Not on Vista, but I'd assume that Zyxel will have appropriate drivers now for their cards.

Cheap as chips too. £13 I think I paid for the card.

Available at Amazon for about £16 - probably other places too.

However you may have problems whatever card you use - tower machines are usually stuck on the floor in a corner - the antenna is then located between the metal back of the case and the wall - hardly the best place for microwave reception and transmission. The advantage of the USB devices is that they can be on the end of a long USB lead so they can be placed for best operation - but you haven't had much luck with those.

The driver is critical - Vista may have a suitable Linksys driver built in - but the Linksys site does refer to a specifivc Viosta driver which you may have to download.

Bottom line (as always) is that you will get better performance from wired - but I'm sure you know that and there must be compelling reasons for you to go down the wirelss path.

FWIW... from personal experience, I can heartily recommend that card as well

I'm now using one of their Wireless-N PCI cards... but I was using the Wireless G card before that, and my son is now using it... both without a single problem
