Ive just bought a Xbox 360 and want to go on live!

i have a wirreless BT homehub which provides on the internet on the laptop...

what wireless components do i need to make the xbox 360 connect to the wireless HomeHub? and also there is no way without drilling a hole throw a wall to get to the HomeHub with a ethernet cable.

so wireless is the only way.

Hey Dude, I think what you need is the xbox wireless bridge just google em, they aint cheap though...about 55 quid I think so maybe one of the other guys'll have a cheaper option,

aye, you can hack your house to pieces, i just run a long ethernet cable around the house (20metre one) cost £11 for the cable + delivery, but you can get them cheaper cos i got a cat6, and all you need is cat5e

would be more reliable using a cabled method as well (depending on how long you need teh cable to be)

i did hear that a FON router thing can be firmware flashed to be useable as a bridge which would be cheaper than the xboxys gizmo... not done it myself but doubtless someone else has that will be around at some point

The ethernet cable sounds the best option (cheepest) and i assume more reliable than Wi-Fi does the distance make a diffrence to the smoothness of the connection?

the maximum length of an ethernet cable is around 100m below that is fine

Which is way more than what wireless can deliver in a noisey area, and bits arrive intact up to that distance.
