    Vista Laptop & Sweex LC000070

    Hello there

My laptop (Asus M51SE-AP043C) arrived today, me being excited and all (ofcourse) I tried connecting to the internet.

I couldn't. Vista said that it didnt get a response from the router. Hit the help button and the 4 possible options to help that were there didnt work.

    Long story short

Laptop wont connect, says there's no response. We have an XP computer that works wireless flawlessly. Also, laptop shows up in the DHCP Client List in my router.

Is it my router? Or something else? I'm really lost here and I could use some help.

    Thanks.

Edit: When hooking the laptop up to a LAN cable, all I get is a local connection, not to the internet

Post up a copy of your ipconfig output:
(click on the Vista 'Start' button, then inthe Search/Run box type 'cmd' and then in the window that opens type 'ipconfig')
Hmm, Vista really needs more names for it's menus

When you ran that ipconfig were you actually connected to the router?
Stick to testing with the wired connection for now, just to keep things simple.
Media disconnected means it's not seeing a physical connection, when you plug in your cable do you get a link light on your network port?
