I've just bought an MSI wind(advent version) and want to install some programs on it which I have on CD. Without buying an external drive, is there anyway I can use my existing optical drive on my main pc to install programs on my wind?

I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.
Try it and see...
right click the optical drive in "my computer" on the desktop PC and then select "sharing and security"
This should allow you to share the drive via a network![]()
it does work, I have done it in the past.

I've used this method many times..
Sharing the drive works fine. I've done it before. It just takes a lot longer to install stuff via the network connection.
I have used the betwork method, or a really nasty but works well bit of kit

just plug a desktop drive in and works a treat, also has lots of other uses
when I go into sharing for the drive(I am running vista 64) the share button is greyed out. I checked to ensure I'm running as administrator but can't find any other way to do it.
