Draft 'n' lock out 'g' devices on wireless network?

    Hey guys

Question that someone raised at work today. He has been told by the guy at PC World (yes, I know!) that if he sets up his draft n wireless router, then connects (wifi) a 'g' laptop and then subsequently an 'n' laptop then the 'g' laptop would be kicked from his wifi network?! That doesn't sound right to me but figured someone here would know for sure! Cheers.

I don't know about all routers but I do know that Linksys N routers can support N and G at the same time. I can see what he is saying though, generaly a wifi network is only as fast as its slowest connection eg if you have some one at 11g and some one at 54g they will both connect and run at 11g.

Hey, I got a Linksys WRT160N that has draft n. I can assure you for me that that never has happened when connecting two different laptops (one with draft-n capabilities). PC World don’t know shiz I think!
In my experience at shopping at the 3 DSG Retail Companies (Dixons, Currys and PC World) their staff really dont have sufficient knowledge of the products they are selling.

That shouldn't really be the case with any modern wireless router. All connections should be independent of each other and not reflect on others.

noTHINGface - They are talking rubbish. Other slower connections will not be dropped. Could you imagine what would happen in a University / Coffee shop / any public Wifi place if this happened?
