    Recommend a Router

Looking for a new router to replace the pretty crap router that Be* provide.
Since getting Be* i have problems with wireless disconnecting and my homeplugs always disconnecting.

Looking to replace the current router with a new one.

Things needed are basically at least 4 ethernet ports
Has to be a adsl router
    Needs wireless g or above#
    Under £100 for defo
Prefered Company D-link as thats only one worked with before.

    Thanks for any help.

    Re: Recommend a Router

I've no experience of D-Link kit but if you're after4 recommendations for other brands:

The Netgear Dg834G has been around a while and is generally well regarded. You can get them for around £40 now, an absolute steal IMO.

Other than that I've been using a Netgear DG834PN now for over a year without problems.

I use a flashed sky DG834GT that came from ebay, was under £20 and has given rock solid connection with Be. Used one of the custom firmwares to give the ability to tweak a bit more

I can recommend the Belkin F5D7632. They go for £20 ish on ebay. I know Dell sell these as well and they were having a sale in their accessories section last time I looked.

    Wink Re: Recommend a Router

I know you've suggested you'd prefer D-Link, but I'd ask you to re-consider, because PC Pro tested wireless routers (including a D-Link model) in their July issue, and the Linksys WRT160N [Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N] won the 'Labs' test:

    A worthy winner
    .

I put quite a lot of faith in PC Pro's opinions anyway, but I can personally vouch for it being a great (not to mention very funky looking, little) router
I bought one not long after they came out, and I concur with PC Pro's findings
In fact I came over all smug when I read the magazine, and subsequently found out it had won their wireless routers Labs test

It's available for just £55 (delivered) from Ebuyer

    Re: Recommend a Router

I bought a D-Link DSL-2640B and its working like a champ. The ISP provided modem was constantly losing sync, this one is rock solid. You can get them for peanuts as they are old, quiet and small too. I'm on a ISP that uses ADSL2 and its connecting at 13MB on a 16MB line, cant complain as the ISP provided modem would connect at 11MB :-o

    Re: Recommend a Router

I have a Draytek Vigor 2600. It's a bit pricey (I paid about £150 3 years ago) but it's been so reliable. I used to have a cheapo one (can't remember the model) that used to overheat when 2 or more wireless clients were connected.

I had a DG834G for 4 or 5 years, it's uptime was only as low as my ADSL line, which was as long as 1 year uptime at one point, only reason I threw it away was because I accidently broke it when my PC fell on it :/
