    Need a new webhost

In urgent need of a new webhost. My current one (evo-hosting) seem to be getting slower as time passes. Not only that, but I've an outstanding ticket about my teamspeak server that they removed without asking - 2 days later and still nothing. In addition, they have also cancelled Paypal payments, which is a bit annoying.

I need PHP/MySQL/Cpanel/The usual basic webhosting stuff.
I don't mind paying a bit more for a quality service - any offers?

    Cheers

I use QiQ and its been fantastic! Don't bother with cobweb solutions though, i'm not very impressed as they have made some school boy errors.

They look nice - have just sent them a message to test their contact time turnaround

Can you host multiple sites with them on the same package, along with multiple domains?

    Re: Need a new webhost

QiQ were pretty good with my enquiry, 3 minute turnaround.

But, that wasn't the best bit, that turn around was at half one in the morning. I've yet to find a company who could beat that.

    Re: Need a new webhost

Do you mean can you host multiple -different- websites from one hosting account? If so, no sorry. However, you can host the same website with different domain names using domain name forwarding.
Pretty pointless giving me a huge bandwidth and space allowance if I can't host a few sites on it.
I only want a 'blog' type thing where I can dump personal stuff, along with a few other smaller sites (mainly an old forum for a clan I used to play in that is still used). Seems really silly if they won't allow something that almost every webhost i've looked at does

    Re: Need a new webhost

Can't be bothered with the hassle, plus it means dedicating part of my line to the site. I use it way too much for a website to be hosted on it too.
It'll also be hosting some heavy images / flash videos of my animations / renders - last thing I want streaming down it

    Re: Need a new webhost

ive been using QiQ - used that special offer last year, £4 for a year or some ridiculously cheap rate... still would've been a bargain at £20.

Regarding the multiple domains... afaik you only get one 'public_html' directory, but theres nothing to stop you adding multiple websites within there (as ive done) and then setting the domain names to point to the folder within public_html... or do you want something completely different?

Nope, thats exactly what I want and how I do it with my current host.
The domains are "parked" with them and point to a directory within my public_html. They are not simply forwarding though, from the outside it looks like a proper separate website (you never see it connecting to the other domain to get data - its all exclusive if that makes sense?)

umm.. well the domains i have are registered are with freeparking.co.uk, so they just point to mydomain.com/each_website_here, or is it more advanced that simple webforwarding+masking that you need?

Then you should be able to do the same with any web host - the "forwarding" part is done by where the domains are parked and redirected and it's irrelevant where you are redirecting too.

I did a similar thing with some domains registered at 123-reg - it didn't work quite as elegantly as you suggest as if you hovered your cursor over a link, you could see it was pointing to http://www.mydomainhosting.co.uk/som....uk/index.html rather than just www.somedomainname.co.uk/index.html if that makes sense, so it wasn't totally transparent (but most users would probably never notice). I used this method to point a few domains to my 200MB of free web space provided by my ISP.

If you want it done properly then you're looking at a resellers account which will cost you £400-500/year upwards for unlimited domains/bandwidth.
