first of all, no need for the 300 point font and its 1 in the morning... not many are on this time

if you want to open ports, you need to "log on" to the router using the IP 3com provide (usually 192.168.0.1) or something like that... there should be a menu/option somewhere allowing ports to be manually opened

    firstly: lol.

secondly: the easiest way to open all ports to your computer is to set up a DMZ, although this can be risky as the router isnt acting as a (very basic) firewall, so you should really have a software firewall set up on your pc... There should be an option within the router settings to specify a particular IP address of the DMZ server. Set this to the IP of your computer (and then give yourself a static ip, or setup the router's DHCP server such that it always assigns you the same IP).

    Good Luck

the "DMZ" that most home routers give isn't what I would call a proper DMZ - I'd generaly avoid it as a rule and only forward the ports that you need.

I think 3Com make more than one type of router.

It would be nice to know the exact router to make sure the advice given is correct.

Re: plz plz plz i have very important question

I'll remeber my <sarcasm> tags next time.

As mentioned previously , most Home routers have a pretty limited number of ports ( or ranges ) that they'll forward. Any more and you have to use the "DMZ" setting which forwards ALL incoming traffic to a given host ( not to be recommended unless you are happy that you have a good firewall in place on the DMZ host )

can the original poster start a new thread that uses regular sized text and doesn't type like an overexcited golden retriever and I'm sure he'll get more answers.
