Xbox live is down currently for the upgrade to the new dashboard experience if you are on the network but cannot access live
If you can't connect wirelessly after specifying the Xbox MAc address to your router, make sure youa re using the wireless MAC and not the wired one - each netwrok interface, be it wired or wireless will have its own MAC addresss.
The wifi device MAC address was entered but this did not work, I also tried the wired MAC address as well to double check my settings.
My main reason for setting up my network in this way is that I am renting out the basement of my house and the rent includes internet. The tenants have 2 pcs and 1 xbox 360, they need to have internet access but not really network access. Is there a better way of setting this up?

Like already posted was it yesterday when this problem arose or is XBOX live that will not connect under the system/network settings?
I take it the Xbox settings are correct for the MAC address?
What wireless receiver is he using for his XBOX? Original or adapted?
What IP is the XBOX using, I found setting a lower IP addy, or a number not previously used by another connection worked for me.
Do you have to use MAC filtering?
What router do you have?
I take it nothing is plugged into the ethernet port?
I might not be able to help but these questions would be useful answered for those with larger capacity for nerdyness.
Firstly I do not have ADSL, I have cable and therefore it requires a modem to work, which I have as I own the house.
To answer other questions, the ip addy for the xbox is low, and its using the original xbox 360 wifi adaptor.
I have a d link di 524 router.

The xbox needs to be configured so that the d link router assignes it an IP. Then it should be able to access the internet.

Ah okay thanks agent - for some reason I thought you could
I did go into the advanced settings for the xbox and it let me give it a static ip that I had assigned for it at the router, I will try changing this so that the router assigns a random IP to the xbox.
