This is the speed that my 7meg connection ASDL for tiscali runs at.

Alyways thought that it was norm for download to 10% of this, but after reading something about virgin, am not to sure.

    Was I correct origonaly???

At least you can boast you have an almost symmetrical connection.

Joking aside it does seem low, Do they throttle users that download lots?

    Re: tiscali 7mb

that seams very low do you know how far you are from the exchange. that may be one of the cause of slowdown.if your close to the exchange i would talk to tiscali. they will be able to sort you out with a different line profile

What speed does your modem/router sync with the exchange? You should be able to find this out in the status page.

    Re: tiscali 7mb

Well, you're synching at 8mbps so they must be throttling down your connection. Have you tried calling them and just asking them straight up?

    Re: tiscali 7mb

I don't really want to call them and ak, as our last problem (broken line) took about 7 weeks for them to sort. I do think that we live a while from the exchange, could this also be causing it. I live in Cranleigh, Surrey, and don't know where the closest exchange is..

    Re: tiscali 7mb

Thanks lee. That means that this is my closest exchange:
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/THCN , and considering that I live about here on the map provided,

I am only about 800m form the exchange...It should be faster, shouldnt it
