Want to get a new wireless router..

I'm using a Netgear WPN 824 at the moment but it keeps freezing requireing a power cycle to get going again. Just wondering which is the best one for my needs. I have 10meg cable broadband, My main PC running xp, a laptop running Xp, a Ps3, and a Squeezebox duet. The laptop, squezebox controller and PS3 all connect wirelessly and the Sqeezebox reciever and PC via ethernet cable, what do you recommend?

    Thanks alot

I would recommend one of the Buffalo or linksys ones as you can flash it with dd-wrt or Tomato (which is what I use) firmware, this gives you a lot of need stuff like QOS etc, see site for full list of supported routers.

Sound advice again from corp_jones. Personally I have a Linksys WRT54G with the aforementioned dd-wrt firmware. Loads of features for novice or advanced user alike, secure and easy to setup. Compatible routers are pretty cheap too, check the dd-wrt site out for features and compatibility.

If money is no option I hear very good things about the Draytek Vigor range.

Buffalo WHR-HP-G54? It's already got the DD-WRT firmware on it (well this DD version does), so you don't have to void your warranty installing it. I've got it's little brother, the WHR-G54S, and it works brilliantly with the custom firmware.

I'm thinking of adding to my setup with the WHR-HP-G54 to extend my range a bit (annoying house with thick interior walls), especially as it's got a built in signal amplifier. Just watch out for the very tempting option in DD-WRT to increase the transmit power, you get diminishing returns and a lot more heat output. Check the forum and wiki for more details.
