Can changing ISPs create VPN problems?

I've just switched from Virgin to O2, and yes speeds are much better etc. But we've got two problems that have appeared out of thin air:

    1) BBC flash iplayer now crashes - regardless of the browser or computer.

    2) VPN connections fail.

I'd possibly expect this if using a new router etc. but I'm not - I'm using exactly the same router with the same firewall etc. settings.

The only thing that has changed on the router is the encapsulation method (now bridged IP LLC) and dynamic IP rather than PPPoA, which I needed to do to get a connection - could they cause this?

Yes changing ISPs can affect VPNs.

There are a couple of providers which I have had issue on VPNs, Pipex/Demon actively block VPN traffic on some of their services and AOL uses a variety of proxy servers which normall stuff a VPN.

I haven't come across an O2 ADSL circuit but I do know that O2 3G block one of the protocols used in a standard IPSEC VPN (ESP if you are technically minded)

The first thing I would recommend is seeing if you are using Nat Traversal (NAT-T) this encapsulates the VPN data in a UDP packet (port 4500) and allow it to pass unhindered through most firewalls and nat devices. This needs to be enabled on both ends.

What are the endpoints to the VPN?
