    Unhappy Dual Band Wireless Routers

    Hi,

So I think I've made a mistake with a recent purchase of a wireless router...

I bought a D-Link DIR-855 which is pretty cool but I was expecting it to be able to use both N bands (2.4 and 5) simultaneously as a 'bonded' connection (using their compatible APs) to effectively double the max possible speed but it seems this isn't the case. It can use both bands at the same time, but for different connections.

Am I right in thinking that the Linksys WRT610N can do what I described?

    Thanks,

    Jerome

OK, so I reckon it was just my wishful thinking. No one seems to provide IP bonding, even though I guess it would be technically possible with a dual band router connected to a compatible dual band AP. Oh well, maybe one day...

IP bonding is available from some service providers (bond two ADSL lijnes together) but your post implied bonding two wireless channels together, which I don't believe is possible.

Absolutely, I should have said IP bonding over wireless (which would be great for HD streaming). But as you say, there's no such beast.
