    Re: Intermittent Connectivity Problem

When you lose connection does the router restart or is it just the connection dropping?

Just the connection drops, you have to restart the router to get the connection back, which can then drop out again a few seconds later.

And is that just the Wireless connection or the WAN connection?

Don't suppose you have any crazy streetlights outside do you? I had an intermittent problem with my connection a while ago and spent ages troubleshooting. In the end it magically went away the same day the council removed an old street light close to my flat.

    Re: Intermittent Connectivity Problem

WAN, I'm using the Belkin Vision N Router, which gives Excellent signal strength but does pick up 5 other wireless networks, I suppose I should try it wired as well to see if this solves the problem..

I will change the channel first before getting my super long RJ45 cable out

EDIT: To be honest I'm pretty sure there isn't a street light outside my house, if there is I'll chop it down tonight, my net connection is certainly more important - he

    Re: Intermittent Connectivity Problem

Not noticed any crazy street lights as yet but maybe my Mrs is giving off some form of Electromagnetic interference? Any excuse to kick her out!

My problem is only with Internet connection, not the LAN as well which seems always connected.

But like you Chris, a router restart more often than not seems to rectify the problem, at least for a few seconds or minutes before it decides to drop out again.

I have the Bebox router connected at the moment but have exactly same symptoms with my netgear router.

I have identical problems when hard-wired through ethernet cable too so this suggests to me that the problem lies with the line/ISP???

Are you connected into the master socket?

    Re: Intermittent Connectivity Problem

Did you take the faceplate off if you have an NTE5 socket and plug into the socket there? If so and you're still getting the same problem with 2 different sets of hardware I think you can reasonably say that the issue lies either with the ISP or BT.

Yay! problem solved... turns out. Be had assigned a conflicting static IP address. They've just given us a new IP address and everythings seems fine and dandy! Thanks for all the help all!

Just to let you know after an hour on the phone to Be they also mentioned that they are having problems with their DNS servers at the moment.
