Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
Hey guys,
Seeing as I cant seem to find my other post regarding Bethere I thought I would ask in this new one.
I wanted to know if you can turn off interleaving on both those packages?
I will be leaving pipex and they are the most logical choice for me.
Thanks
PS. I dont know whether or not I will actually be able to get more than 8mb unfortunately- so the asking between the packages is purely because of interleaving.
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
You can't on Value, you can on Unlimited. Phone up and switch to Unlimited and see what speed you get, then add on 1meg of sync speed to get your interleaved speed. Might be more or might be less.
If the increased speed isn't worth it phone up and switch back to value so you don't pay much for using the unlimited package.
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
You can estimate your sync speed if you know some details
firstly straight line distance from your nearest Be* enabled telephone exchange
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/mapping/mapping.php
If you're close then you have a good chance of getting a very fast connection. I live ~370m from my exchange, and ~1.4km of underground wiring distance, I can sync at 20Mbps with Be*.
And then try and find your current line attenuation from your router or modem
should be measured in db
and then enter it in this website
http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php
bear in mind that is only an estimation, for me it is entirely accurate, but I know for someone else that it underestimated his sync speed.
As moogle mentioned, non-interleaved is only available on the Unlimited and Pro packages, even then its not suitable for all, you need a good stable line.
Any reason you need interleaved off?

1337 pings and faster speeds :P
PS - You lucky git living so close to the exchange
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
Yea, basically playing online with a 30+ ping is dogpoo when you were once on a sub 15 ping.
Just doesnt feel right. Also loading of webpages seems to take longer when resolving the host name and then once on it, browsing seems "delayed".
710m via crows path
2.24km via wiring that kitz website says :/
adsl2+ (21CN) 14528kbps
adsl2+ (LLU) 14528kbps
IP profile is 12000 for both.
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
I just enabled Fastpath on Be*, gained extra 1100Kbps sync speed and 40-60% latency drop on my regular CSS server, so far no connection problems, hope it stays that way :)
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
Ok so Ive ordered Be, and my line will be activated on the 25th!
Payment gets taken 4 days before that and I talked to the tech dept. about getting interleaved turned off which is just being put onto fastpath like you said luckyNV.
With regards to using my new line they say in the email:
"If you are migrating from another broadband provider, please wait until your existing service stops working and then connect your Be Box"
But do they mean once they've disconnected it or, once our contract with them runs out?
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
Whenever you stop receiving internet from your ISP most likely. Also I don't think they can put you on fastpath until DLM finishes adjusting your line. A week after you've connected most likely.

Fastpath? What's that?
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
@Oobie-
Default is interleaved on, it is best you first get connected and see how your initial line stats and stability is, I believe you can only change to Fastpath after 2 weeks.
My 2 weeks ended on past Monday, but before that my stats showed I had internal wiring problems which I have now corrected. If you have an old house or old wiring (mine is at least 15years old) then very fast ADSL will show these problems, I only had 2Mbps before so I couldn't have known of any problems, switching to Be* I initially synced @14Mbps which I thought was impressive, but line stats a problem, after upgrading the face plate, removing some unneeded wiring and placing the router on the master socket I now manage 19Mbps sync.
I got all the help I needed from Be* forums.
with regards to this
"If you are migrating from another broadband provider, please wait until your existing service stops working and then connect your Be Box"
But do they mean once they've disconnected it or, once our contract with them runs out?
I was also confused, so I contacted my ISP to disconnect me, I had already requested and received my MAC key from them. The ISP help support said migration is an automatic process, if you have an active service, then on the Be* activation date the current service will be automatically terminated and the new service will be active within a very short period.
For myself Be* said activation date on 3rd Nov, and my net actually cut out at exactly at midnight 3rd lol, so I plugged in the Be* router and I was up and running.
Be* email implied "activation will take place sometime during 3rd" so I assumed morning or afternoon. Perhaps I was lucky :p
@Bluecube
I don't actually know for sure, but Fastpath is just a Be* name for non-interleaved, it disables some error checking processes, resulting in better latencies, side effect that you may also experience faster sync speeds. (if anyone has a better explanation please go ahead :))
non-interleaved is only recommended on good stable connections.
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
Ah thanks moogle and luckyNV - My next question was actually going to be about when I should ask to be put on fastpath! A couple of weeks it is.

No no, just give it a week then submit a ticket (unless you meant a couple of weeks for your internet :P), the DLM (Dynamic Line Monitoring) should be finished by then. If the ticket takes too long just phone up the freephone number and wait till you get to speak to someone, then request fastpath. It'll get done much quicker that way :)
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
I was put on fastpath within the hour of submitting a ticket. I think my SNR went up and connected at slightly faster speeds (500-1000kbps more) without any stability problems.

Oh, ok :) Line will be activated on the 25th. Cant wait!
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
Good news! My line is activated and running - Im currently sitting on 750kbps down and 86kbps up!
Re: Does bethere unlimited/value have interleaving on?
Is that KB/sec?
Is that because you're quite far from your exchange?
Post your Bebox stats so I can help
