As probably most of us VM customers know traffic shaping has been forced on us by new directors and legislation.
I have a 20mb service which at total max I have only got 14mb (very rarely) and after a certain amount of bandwidth use I have gone from 254kB/s this morning to a fantastic 30kB/s.
I actually chose VM (then telewest) because of the unlimited broadband package they had, but now have introduced this "fair use policy" which has now restricted me from getting that speed and "unlimited" usage.
Virgin Media Acceptable Use Policy 04/09/07.
So in the day if i go over 6gb they will throttle 75% of my "unlimited" speed for 5 hours!
In the evening (1600-2100) if i go over 3gb they will throttle 75% of my "unlimited" speed for 5 hours!
If I have reached 6gb during the morning that makes me have a 5mb service for the rest of the day, from a 20mb service.
My question relates to- when I signed up this policy was not in use and signed the contract in the state that all download speeds and usage were unlimited at the time (over 6 years ago), surely this is a break in that contract as they advertised wrongly as this is not the service i signed up for?
Any views?
