'ad-aware 6' and 'spybot search and destroy' will do what your looking for.

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ (Ad-Aware)
    http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download (Spybot)

I use both and they come highly recommended. Both get regular updates released.

spybot may not be the best looking program but it is the best spyware removal tool at the current moment

Spybot has a kind of auto protect option that will stop some of the most common pests getting through to you - worth turning on.

And always remember to check for new updates for both of them

While we are at it, any good pop-up blockers?
