DG834G v2 LAN connection stops responding briefly?

Just checking if anyone else has this issue.

Netgear DG834G V2 using firmware V3.01.38 and wired connection. Have had it happen using the previous firmware too.

Problem is every so often the network connection pauses. Lights on router remains illuminated, but can't connect to router set-up using 192.168.0.1 or any web connectivity.

Once timing out issue has passed (a minute or so), checking LAN up time doesn't show it has disconnected.

This has happened for two different computers (not used at same time), and the only common feature was Marvel network chip (different versions). Has happened on Win XP Home and Vista HP 64-bit.

I keep meaning to try connecting wireless using a notepad when it happens. But got to have it set up ready for when it occurs.

Does the router by any chance drop the WAN connection too (I'm thinking this may be caused by too many connections overloading the router and causing a reboot)

When it happened yesterday, multiple times, only one computer was connected by cable. No wireless computers connected.

Max of two computer connected at one time. One wired and one wireless. But still got to test if wireless carries on working when cable connection seems to die.

Does the router report it's uptime? What was the one PC that was connected doing at the time?

Might be worth doing some Wireshark analysis.

Re: DG834G v2 LAN connection stops responding briefly?

Router provides up time for WAN, LAN, WLAN. Once I'm able to log back into router I check that screen and times haven't reset.

If I'm browsing a forum (doing at the time), it's difficult to know when the issue occurs until I request a new page. But if I get any pauses I open a new IE browser window and try to connect to router. To eliminate slow connection or messed up router.

During one pause yesterday the network icon in system tray listed a message about connectivity limited.

    Not had an issue today.

I have the same model, but not had this issue. Did have something similar on the equivalent model without wireless, which would hang it's WAN connection - but similarly not report any downtime. Eventually persuaded their tech support to replace the kit, but it was hard work.
