I'm currently using Cat5 Enhanced ethernet cords...
Is there an advantage to using Cat6?
Can I use Cat6?
How do I know what is compatible with my internet?
I have BT Broadband with BT Home Hub.
Thanks

Cat6 will be of no benefit to you at all.
CAT5e can go upto speeds of 1Gbps CAT6 is slighly more resilient and runs upto 500 MHz so is more stable at high trasfer speeds.

Google is your friend. This is a common question thats been answered all over the internet.
You can use Cat 6 if you want, but I doubt there will be anything to gain from using it over Cat 5e

there both shielded against outside noise, cat 6 has each pair wrapped for extra protection, stick with the 5e if you have it

i dunno about that, hexus seems to be high in the hit list![]()

Had been using Cat6 for all my cabling since 4 years ago when I got my first GbE switch![]()

no, it's called UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair)
the wires are twisted in such a way that it reduces crosstalk and interferrence from neighbouring pairs.
unless ofcourse the wire states that it is STP
Cat6 can come as UTP and runs at up to 250mhz
Cat6a can run at up to 550mhz
ahh mines stp 6a
I think most people use 6a over 6

just tried looking for anywhere selling them and 6a is very expensive.. cat6 utp is most popular by far
