    Recommendations for business broadband?

    Hi all,

I uesd to use Be (and currently use O2) at home, and on the whole, am very pleased with it. I'd like to be able to use this in a London office that we're currently in the process of setting up. However, I'd like to get people's opinions on other broadband providers as well, as, to be honest, I'm not sure it's reliable enough to be used in an SMB capacity.

I know that every broadband provider can have it's wobbly moments, but BeThere seem to have more of them on the whole, than BT Business do. We've been using BT in an office just outside of London for the last two years, and other than issues down to incompetence (we gave notice we were moving offices in 2 weeks, and they proceeded to cut off our broadband the next day, resulting in a VERY prompt move), I have to say I haven't really had any major technical problems.

I'm tempted to just stick with BT for the London office (at least if I go with a more reputable ADSL provider, and it still goes down, my head won't roll). However, I'd like to gather peoples' thoughts before making a concrete decision if that's ok.

    Hope that makes sense?
    Thanks all

Depending on which exchange you are connected to in central london can also determine how reliable a particular provider / service is. Some exchanges have run out of LLU capacity and are currently upgrading to increase capacity. Some isp's therefore may not be able to offer you the service / the service may suffer from some quality issues.

I'm on the 'Soho Aka Gerrard Street' and have had no problems whatsoever with be, the quality of service is goodenough for a voip call with perfect clarity; this is not the case for other exchanges which friends of mine are connected to (At very simiar wire distance).

    Take a look at: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/
It will give you more informaton about your exchange and which services are available.

Yes BT will be able to provide a reliable business service.
Another good isp is nildram: http://www.nildram.net/
Personally, I would choose be since i've had no problems with them.

    www.zen.co.uk

Constantly wins awards as best ISP and Business ISP.

The support is top notch, Offices are all uk based so you`ll never speak to an offshore call centre.

I am slightly biased because I work for them but after working for other ISP`s and having service from other companies I wouldnt touch anything else for business bb

My vote for a Business ISP is Lumison.
Based in Edinburgh their support is top notch. I've got ~100 ADSL services for various clients all rock solid...

Yeah i think you are right.

Weird really, Tiscally are rubbish and Nildram are good. I don't think they share the same infrastructure though, Tiscali are just the parent company.

Another vote for Zen. I wouldn't trust Nildram purely on being owned by Tiscali The infrastructure is shared with Pipex which wasn't too shabby back in the day - it's pretty much now a case of a decent infrastructure but noone who seems to know what to do with it
    Moo.

Another vote for Enta - we use their bonded ADSL service at a branch office and that's been flawless.

One more vote for Zen; Consistent, reliable, low contention ratios and just downright amazing support on the very rare occasions you need it.

Reverse DNS and bandwidth graphing also come as part of the package.

We use Zen for business and haven't had any problems. You could also check out Eclipse, they have a pretty good rep.

Check out www.thinkbroadband.co.uk for some independent broadband advice (along with a comparison chart for all the major ISPs).

So do O2 on both counts and they are also FAR better value than Zen.

The days of paying that sort of money for an up to 8mb connection should be gone by now.
