I apologise in advance if my ranting offends anyone!
Yesterday afternoon we got a call from the BT sales team who asked us to consider swapping our calls back to BT. We replied that we would only be interested if we can move the broadband to them also, we're currently getting calls and adsl broadband from Virgin and we all know how little Virgin care about they're adsl customers now.
The happy little chimp on the other end of the line was pleased to be able to tell the missus that BT would meet the price we are currently paying for Virgins services, so she asked what broadband service would that be. We require an unlimited and uncapped service, and if BT could offer to match our current price for their unlimited service we would be very interested in making the jump. The phone gets handed to me, and the happy little chimp gives me some more details about the broadband, he said he could guarantee that the broadband they were offering would be fully unlimited and with no fair usage policy, something that was a little bewildering as i was reading the about the fair usage policy being on everyone's account on the BT webpage at the time. Either way, i had his guarantee that there was no fair usage policy or limits to the service they offer, something which he confirmed with his supervisor whilst i was on the line, so we were more than happy for the them to take over our service as soon as possible. The little chimp takes a few more details from the missus and tells her that someone from the broadband team will contact us in the next 10-15 mins to sort out the broadband side of things and the calls package had been ordered.
So, we wait around for them to call for an hour or so before we had to pop out, of course no call was forthcoming in that time. We returned home and the other half noticed she had received an email from Virgin saying that our calls had been cancelled, so BT must have instigated that change, something we found a bit odd considering that we still hadn't had the call from the broadband team. We make a call to BT to chase up the broadband team and we are told to expect a call from a manager at some point during the evening. Again, no call was received.
On to today's outrageous events! - We again call BT to try and figure out what the heck is going on with these changes, and have the pleasure of being passed to what seemed like every department they could think of. We have to explain all of what's happened to every adviser and every time they reply with 'you need to talk to such and such department, let me put you through'. After THREE HOURS of being passed from pillar to post and being stuck in queue's, we still don't know where we stand and are again waiting for a manager to call us to sort this out. This time i have the managers direct number, so if we haven't received a call by 5 O clock this evening i will have to call them again!
Is this what BT is usually like? Taking into account the fact they called us and offered this package, what do you think our chances are of getting the package that the first monkey offered? Surely if I had rung them and ordered this package i would now be bound to a contract, so will they be bound to a contract and have to give us what was offered?
I am not really fuming, i find it funny that so much can be offered with so little information being put on our account, it seems like the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing at BT, and we, the people who were offered this deal, will be the only people to lose out.
Any tips or advice of things to say to the manager when i have to ring them would be much appreciated, i want to get all i can out of them now!!
Rant over!!
