    ethernet switch?

Well i got a 360 again and need to use 1 ethernet(cat5e) cable for both, any recommendations on switches or hubs?. Looking at cheapest possible <£8 as i can get an edimax 4 port for ~£8 at play(had one before was reliable aswell).

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Re: ethernet switch?

    Hi. 2 suggestions here:

1.) it doesn't look like you have any particularly special needs. If you had a good switch before, and you liked it, and its in your price range, just get it again.

2.) make sure you get a switch, not a hub. To be honest, I'm not sure while hubs are even for sale any more. Hubs cause massive collisions when more than one device is sending data through them because they are not full-duplex. In other words, they are not bi-directional at the same time. Whenever any info is sent, it is simply duplicated and broadcast to every connected device, and that will cause a collision and packet loss if a different device happens to be sending any info at the same time.

...and this is precisely why hubs *are* still sold. They can be very handy for a number of applications (such as traffic monitoring and the like). A switch is indeed what the OP wants though,
