    Wireless N

My Belkin 54G router seems to be getting flakier and flakier. Is Wireless N worth having. Any recommendations on routers please?

    Re: Wireless N

I found wireless N to be horribly unreliable, although when it was connected properly it did function well - moved back to the old G router actually, since it was performing better.

I'm sure other people have had better experiences, but mine wasn't great.

    Re: Wireless N

I'm using a Netgear DG834N and I've found it pretty good, not had any major headaches with it.

Have my HTPC running with a netgear PCI card (WN311B) and my GF's laptop (WN511B) and my dad connects with no problem with his dell at N speed.

Thanks - I keep seeing the same router for 49.99 + VAT at Aria and thinking I should go for it.

    Re: Wireless N

That's the same router I was using actually, quite ironic I know

I think we might have had local interference, as it used to die at precisely the same time every day. I would go for D-Link myself these days, but each to their own I guess.

    Re: Wireless N

I installed a Linksys WRT610N a few weeks ago as I wanted to stream video across the house on 5GHz while people used 2.4GHz for normal use.

The thing that surprised me was the fact that I get far better coverage with this router with its small internal aerials than I did with an 802.11g router with massive 6db external aerials. I don't know if improved range is a general benefit with 11N over 11G but if so I can't recommend it enough.

    Re: Wireless N

Think mine works quite well, reliable signal, good speed. I've got a Netgear DG834N and a intel wireless-N card in my laptop. It also works fine with older .11G devices.
