Hi, if you could explain exactly what you want to do it'll be easier to help. I'll hazard a guess and assume that you just want to connect a couple of machines together using wired connections?
If so, you should just be able to plug them all into the yellow ports on the back of the Linksys without changing any configuration and your machines should be able to see each other.

Hi that's just what i wanted to do ran 2 cables from main router to the living room 1 working & 1 as a spare, i can connect to this fine with a single device and everything works okay
If i attach the Linksys gateway i still get only 1 device to work and then i get the rest of the internet from the main router going down randomly and freezing (connect xbox running xbmc and a Tivo(pvr with network options)and if i run xbmc and stream a video file from another pc) then i get the above problems of connections.
I don't know if this is caused by the gateway or the xbmc
    Any help?
    Thanks
    Robert

Ok, so the xbox and Tivo are connected to the Linksys gateway device? Have you got a model number or a link to the Linksys gateway thingy?

Ah, sorry I'd assumed that the Linksys was your main router. Right, so all you should need to do is to disable the DHCP server from within the Linksys.
Login into the Linksys, choose Setup->Basic Setup and under "DHCP Server" select "disable" and you should be ok.
