    Re: ADSL Gigabit Router

'Domestic' routers are primarily for giving internet access and te limiting speed factor is the WAN side - so there is little point in a Gigabit router - except when it is used as a switch. I have a separate gigabit network with a feed from that to my router - the computers on the net run at Gigabit speeds between each other, with a slower (100Mb - still faster than the WAN!) link out to the internet. (In fact I hang other slower speed devices - printers, music servers) off the 100Mb as well, so the spare ports aren't 'wasted'.

    Re: ADSL Gigabit Router

I agree with Peter, get a decend router and then a gigabit switch.

Thats what I have, even went as far as having a ADSL2+ modem/router, seperate wireless AP, gigabit router. A couple of slower devices hang off the router directly along with the AP, everything else is on the switch.

It is only two devices (unless you go for funkstar's solution and have a separate Wireless point - which has the advantage that you can place it in the optimum place for wireless coverage. That is only 3 devices.

    Re: ADSL Gigabit Router

Do Edimax do an ADSL gigabit router?

I have one of their gigabit cable routers with Draft-N at my mums along with a d-link ADSL modem. That setup works well too (not needed, but i had the devices already and her router was on the way out again).
