    Netgear DG834G

Have been using the DG834G wireless ADSL routers for some time now, is there a credible alternative to these now, I have found then incredibly easy to set up?

A lot of people are talking about the GT that you get with Sky BB... flashed, you can get them from ebay(or perhaps from someone on this forum). but i don't think they do anything extra they just have better more stable firmware.

    Hope thats useful.

Now been using the SKY DG934's that you can get off Ebay, you can get them for less than a tenner delivered, can be easily flashed to DG834 firmware, which is what they are in a different box

    Re: Netgear DG834G

What version of the DG834G do you have at the moment? If it's a white unit it will say on the label underneath, e.g. DG834G v2

The reason being Netgear keep changing the chipset and features, and you might just like a newer version of the same model. Latest version is v5 and includes two buttons on the side. One for turning on/off wi-fi and, the other I can't remember. But from what I read Netgear have opted for another chipset (no longer Broadcom).

There's a Netgear DGN2000 too, that looks pretty much the same with the added draft N. But not sure on chipset used.

Edit: Looking at date of original post, this was a wasted message

A newer Broadcom chipset, also like you said allows itself to be upgraded to custom firmware which allows alteration of SNR to be set in the router so no need for DMT tool
