    [Help] Weird latency issue

Greetings everyone, i thought id come here since this place could help me on many internet problems ive been recently having.

    Okay so lets start:

I have been getting problems with my internet, which occured 2 weeks ago (since then I've been patient but now it's really annoying me). At 22:00 PM exactly, my internet starts to slow down - browsing the web and playing games becomes a pain in the butthole as you would say.

This was all tested on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, basically i would sit in one place as usual and my latency would remain lagless and pretty much no problem. Then soon as i start moving, lets say i meet an enemy half way to my intended destination or even get close to an enemy without seeing him the latency(ms) would shoot from 60~ to 900~ and above, but the problem is after literally watching it, i saw it increase from 60 to 100 then to 300 then to 600 and so forth then after the person is dead or no enemy is near me the latency would again return to normal. Also looking at the game list, servers show as 1000~ Latency.

Steam games are not effected by this, for some mysterious / strange reason (which is beyond me)

Moving on, download rates have been cut by 3/4. By installing windows updates at 22:40 the speeds are around 3 kb/s which is appauling speeds especially at this time (its not peak time as i live in England).
Also installing on steam games an Utorrent has been significantly decreased not only am i getting really really poor speeds but it seems that my web browsing has been effected as well.

I'd be browsing the web and websites that i would visit now take either 2-3x longer then it normally should be.

These problems start to occur at 22:00 and continue on to 15:00 and then after 15:00 it would be lagless ingame (constant ~40-60Ms), i would gain 100% speed back on downloads and i would be able to browse the web as any user would without lag. Just weird for me, but have my ISP capped me? Or is there something else wrong.

    ISP:
    BT Broadband (Homehub 2)

    Wireless router:
    D-Link DWA-140 RangeBooster N USB Adapter

    Thanks, Min0rity.

    Re: [Help] Weird latency issue

Not that I'm blaming BT nor and I discrimating BT in any way. But the issue is with BT some people will disagree and other will probably state I'm talking utter but here me out first.

I worked for BT for 5 years, and depending on the distance your exchange is from your house and how many people are on this exchange at one given time. What is also taken into account is the throughput output, if this has peaked at 60% at 22:00 then browsing and online gaming is going to suffer.

Peak times are normally between 18:00 until 21:00 and if the traffic on your particular exchange has reached it's peak then it will slow down the traffic. I used to use this when I worked for BT very handy http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/ just enter your BT ADSL line number and then it will tell you if there are any issues with the exchange.

I would also check this http://www.productsandservices.bt.co...oadband/faster

and this one as well http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ (make sure your Java is up to date when using this one) I would test this around about the time your are getting the slow connection time. What is the ping rate when your are playing online?

If any of the above are inconclusive then speak to BT Technical Support and ask them to do a Woosh Test on your ADSL line. They will probably ask you how you know about "BT Woosh" just state that somebody advised your to ask.

    Hope this help you
