Problem connecting to my Readynas Duo

So my Linn GUI sees all the files that are stored on the NAS, but I cannot connect to the the NAS using Firefox eg. 192.168.0.7, then the password......no box for the password appears, either wirelessly or wired.
I had the program that allows you to connect to the NAS remotely, but that didn't work.
I can't 'add a network place' the PC just doesn't see the NAS.

I know this is something really simple, but I can't suss it out.

I'm on Windows 7, if it helps.

Well I've managed to log-in, the address of the NAS had changed somehow (192.168.0.7 had gone to 192.168.0.2), it tooka while to find a password that would be accepted, so now I can get on Frontview.

But still my PC does not see the NAS, I can't add a network place and it doesn't appear on the network page.

Try in windows explorer putting in the direct ip of the NAS in the address bar as follows \\192.168.0.2 and see if it shows the files.

Make sure you haven't blocked the ip address of the nas on your firewall as well.

The readynas nas finder software should be able to find the nas on the network. If it's not there is an issue somewhere.

I would also make sure your router is handing out the same ip to the nas each time so that it's always got the same address.

I've managed to get frontview on the NAS, it's my PC that not showing anything on the network, my GF's laptop is showing all the devices Eg. the Linn media player, thre NAS and a few other icons, my PC only has one icon for my media player.

Windows 7 requires SMB signing and 128 bit encryption. You probably need to disable both.
Let me know if you need help on how to do this.

I think I've sussed out disabling encryption, I used this webpage to help......

    http://www.recipester.org/Recipe:Cha...ength_26866721

It wasn't configured, so I've disabled it, I hope that's right?

I've had a search on the SMB signing, but I'm having trouble finding how to do it in windows 7

I tried this page http://windowsitpro.com/article/arti...rformance.html but the second part of editing the reg' that it mentions just wasn't there, so I've deleted the first value.

The Windows Workgroup for the ReadyNAS should have the same name as your PC's workgroup. The PC will then "find" the NAS for you.

The workgroup name for the NAS is to be found in Frontview under global settings.
In Windows it is available under MyComputer[Right click]Properties.

I have just got my new Windows 7 PC running and this was all I had to do.
