Bebox router is peeing me off

Right i am pissed off with this router and came close tonight smashing it to bits as it keeps disconnecting/freezing plus ALWAYS resetting my ports i forwarded to specific pc's.

It also randomly assigns the COMPUTERS NAME with a complete different MAC CODE! for example, i have a laptop called jono and a htpc called "htpc" yet when i click on the htpc from the bebox routers UI it points to the LAPTOP

I have had this bebox freeze 4 times in less than an hour, all trying to connect and play a bit of uncharted 2 on my PS3!!!

I give up with this crap, i need another router! any advice on one thats fully compatible with "BeThere" and the cheapest?

    would this work? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Netge...28Version-5%29

i might consider ebay as i read here before how ebay are sellinga very cheap netgear router their. never used ebay before though and with the postal strike, i dont think i will unless ebay deliver goods via city link or something?

The Netgear DG834GT is probably the best at the low end of the price range, as Madduck says. Just don't bin the BeBox as you have to return it to Be if/when you leave.

Re: Bebox router is pissing me off

Yes, the DG834GT is excellent. I own one from eBay and four bought from last years car boot sales. Three cost £3 each, another cost £2. Only one had obvious capacitor bulging due to age, but the caps are very easy to replace.

My GT (DGTeam firmware) currently has an uptime of about 75 days, but it would be longer if I hadn't tidied up and rewired the 'phone point closet. It really never needs a reboot.

The broadcom chipset that the DG834GT uses is fully compatible with the equipment that BE / O2 use.

Re: Bebox router is pissing me off

look on ebay for sky routers, some are dg834gt models and easilly unlocked and flashed to dgteam firmware. Theres one currently sitting at a couple of quid but around £5 postage only a few mins to go. Havent clue if the 934gt is enay good.

My flashed 834 has been up for months, and gives me 16meg

Re: Bebox router is pissing me off

In the meantime, run your BeBox upside down, with the lights facing down. Sounds daft but helps noend with heat dissipation and resolves a lot of issues - at least it might help until you get a decent router sorted
    Moo.

Re: Bebox router is pissing me off

I replaced the BeBox with a D-Link, still crash, I removed the cover and it crashed less.

The wireless module in a router generates a lot of heat. Using wired only will easily give you 100 days uptime easy. I just have difficulty trying to get a uptime over 3 days with wireless

You were using the Be DNS servers? I use OpenDNS - you can pretty much use any public DNS servers. What other settings did you need?
