Question 02 or Virgin, central London (Paddington) ?

    Hi,

Wondering if anyone has advice on which is the better option? Moving flat next week and turns out we'll only be around 50m from the exchange. Unfortunately the building's not wired for cable. Not sure which to go for.

    Options are:

    02 standard 8Mb: 3 months free then £12.23, (£7.43 if 02 customer) + phone line (£12.50 ???).
    02 premium 20Mb: 3 months free then £14.68, (£9.79 if 02 customer) + phone line (£12.50 ???).

    Virgin L 10Mb: 3 months £5, then £14 + virgin phone line (£11).
    Virgin XL 20Mb: 3 months £10, then £20 + virgin phone line (£11).

I don't usually download a lot of movies etc other than occasional Youtube, large game video clips and the likes, but do quite a bit of online gaming. Slightly worried about the Virgin throttling I've read about. Not currently an 02 customer but thinking about swapping girlfriends mobile over from 3 if we go that way (useless company).

We're currenly living just down the road on BT 8Mb, and get around 7.xMb usually. Can't complain other than they kept sending the bills to the previous address after having the connection switched to here :/

    Thanks for any advice!

02 is overall better in my opinion, as virgin is expensive and heard that premium number are expensive to call from a virgin landline, but i don't know about 02 selling line rental

    Another vote for Be/O2

Was at a friends house the other day and they were only getting 2MB internet when it should have been 10MB as that's the slowest speed Virgin now offer, rang customer services

got cut off first time round after 8 minute wait, got through second time round and they 'sorted' the issue, speedtest.net shows 8MB but other speed checkers show 4MB

Re: 02 or Virgin, central London (Paddington) ?

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like 02 is a go. Might actually change my pay as you go to 02 to get the discount. Assuming the £10 min. top up in the past 3 months is a rolling thing, not £10/month.

Would be a lot better if 02 could also sort out the phone line :/

    Is Quidco really worth doing?

Re: 02 or Virgin, central London (Paddington) ?

Well, turns out BT will charge us £122.50 just to reconnect the f'n phone line!!! Apparently it has been disconnected. Still need to confirm there is no ring tone

Anyone know how to get around it? Do Virgin still charge for a reconnection if you use them for the line, or is that part of their 'free installation'?
